Hosted by the Lakewood Service League, this community festival includes 5K and 10K races, a dog agility walk, a 1K dash for the kids, pet adoptions and plenty of Halloween and canine-friendly entertainment.
The Long Run is JL Long’s only fundraiser, and last year the run raised approximately $35,000 for the school. With these funds, the PTA provides students with educational programs and many of the “extras” not supplied by DISD.
Bob Weiss, chair of the P&Z/Code Enforcement Committee, worked long and hard to get revisions to the original, onorous contract supplied by Oncor.
Some residents are concerned about news that Rescue 17, the ambulance service based in Firehouse 17, at the corner of Skillman and Belmont, may be scheduled to move to a station near Duncanville in October, 2010.
