Local Students Win "Reflections" Contest

by J. Kyle Rains

Congratulations to Zach Youpa and Stephanie Arnold for their awards in the PTA Reflections contests. Junior Zach Youpa won an Award of Excellence for his musical piece entitled "The Healing of Understanding." Zach will advance to the state level competition. Sophomore Stephanie Arnold won an Award of Merit for her photography pieces entitled "Diversity is Beautiful" and "Differences are Natural".

Started in 1969 by then Colorado PTA President Mary Lou Anderson, Reflections has encouraged millions of students to express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts. Students in preschool through grade 12 may create and submit works of art in six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. Any PTA/PTSA in good standing is eligible to sponsor Reflections on their campus.
