East Dallas Cub Scouts Twilight Camp Goes Global

A highlight of Twilight Camp was a visit from Mike Lewis and his Creepy Critters.

For about 40 East Dallas Cub Scouts, Twilight Camp was a global experience with countries and cultures all over the world.

The White Buffalo District’s annual Twilight Camp was held on June 6-10, 2010, from 6:30 till 8:45 p.m. at Samuell Grand Park. Each evening, Scout patrols moved through four different stations. Two stations, BBs and archery, helped the youngsters hone their shooting skills, including the chance to earn Top Shooter awards to qualify for the National Shooting Sports Foundation Junior USA Shooting Team patch.

Another station, “Wet Stuff,” featured relays and other games with lots of water—a treat in the warm weather. The fourth station had a different theme each night, with a game, dance, or other activity that reflected a country: Monday was Kenya, Tuesday was the Philippines, Wednesday was Korea, and Thursday was Australia. On Friday, a highlight of the camp was a visit from Mike Lewis of Creepy Critters (www.partypets.net) with an up-close and personal appearance by snakes, lizards, insects and other—well, creepy critters.
