Dallas police arrested two men Thursday in connection with a string of crimes involving vehicles in the Gastonwood-Coronado Hills neighborhood after receiving a 911 call from a citizen who observed the men.
According to Lt. Herbert Ashford of the Central Operations Division, the two unidentified men were charged with six counts of burglary of a motorized vehicle and one count of unauthorized use of a motorized vehicle.
Investigators said the men allegedly committed four car break-ins about 1:30 a.m. Oct. 2 near the 2100 block of Tucker Street. The men also are accused of stealing a vehicle in the same vicinity, which, according to police, they drove to the 5000 block of Gaston Avenue, where they allegedly broke into two more vehicles.
"Our Investigative Unit is reviewing these arrests and the criminal history of these individuals to see if we can keep them in jail longer, request higher bonds, or enhance their charges based on past convictions," Ashford said in an e-mail message.
The two were arrested in the 1700 block of North Garrett Avenue about 3:30 a.m. in the vehicle they are accused of stealing and police recovered the property taken during the BMVs at the time of the arrests, according to Ashford.
