Friday afternoon, Black White Read contributing writer Linda Marie Ford witnessed a plume of smoke rising from the roof of the old Minyard supermarket store, now being converted to the Lakewood Whole Foods Market.
Dallas Fire-Rescue received an emergency call about 3:23 p.m., according to department spokesman Jason Evans, and responding firefighters deemed the fire "tapped out" at 3:36.
Ford and witness Ana Sendra snapped a few photographs of the incident. Note the sign reading "Safety NOW means NO ACCIDENTS later."
